On March 20 and 21, the Superior Electoral Court (TSE) will promote the International Seminar on Electoral Systems. National and foreign participants will exchange experiences and opinions on the country's challenges in the area, providing inputs to members of the Legislative Branch in the process of reforming the electoral system.
The event, organized in partnership with the Chamber of Deputies and supported by the International Institute for Democracy and Electoral Assistance (IDEA), will be divided into thematic panels and will include the participation of foreign panelists –from Belgium, the United States, France, Germany, Sweden, Portugal, Spain, Mexico and the Netherlands - and Brazilians, in addition to the presence of a moderator.
The first day of the seminar will be held at the headquarters of the TSE, from 2:00 p.m. to 6:45 p.m., and the second day at the Chamber of Deputies, from 8:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. in Brasilia.
The International Seminar on Electoral Systems was conceived considering the proximity of the 2018 Elections and the current moment of discussions about a possible electoral reform in Brazil. With the end in campaign financing by corporations, this is a decisive moment to develop a more robust and financially sustainable electoral system.
